My hunches were correct. Mom was not only sounding better over the phone these past few weeks, but her doctor told me that she is responding to treatment. She went for her third treatment on her own, and today had her fourth. Arianna was quite a hit at the hospital, making everyone laugh. It is so touching when you think that half those present may die soon. Mom was really proud.

She lost her hair. She is not taking it well. To see her long hair just fall out at the stroke of a brush ...

Do you know why I kept my hair so long all these years?

No why?

Simply because your father liked them that way.

She settled on a wig - I really do not see her problem, she wore one many years ago... The only real inconvenience is that it is hot. But then she gets to play games with Arianna; while her left thumb is busy, her right hand sometimes finds her grandma's hair and other times she has nothing to grab!

I reached all her friends. They all rang her up for her birthday. She was surprised and happy:

Wow, everyone called.. Did you say anything?

Say what?

Phil also called and confirmed he would make it over this weekend. He said he had friends to see, without specifying which friend he was really coming to see!

I told her she would be a grandmother for the second time. She's funny some times... Once I had let the cat out of the bag, I followed up with a Cheshire smile and:

You do not have much of a choice. You will have to go through treatment so you can be in top shape for the birth. It will be in spring, the weather in Italy is splendid. It will be a wonderful trip...

Oh yes! That would be nice... But two is enough. You must stop there!

In the end, she surprised me...

AriFeuilles: I almost forgot... Yesterday, I was bringing Arianna to play in the leaves. Not really paying attention, I pulled her out of the car and left her standing there. I turned around the grab the videocamera and as I turned back, I saw her move one foot, then the other, then a third... then boom! in the pile of leaves. Her first three steps!

Hugs & kisses
